Biko Nicholas Poindexter-Hodge is a junior at Pierce Community College in Woodland Hills, CA. He is majoring in Journalism with a minor in Art. Poindexter-Hodge previously interned at the Los Angeles Sentinel earlier this year and returned for the Summer. He has written and edited several articles and conducted several interviews.

Poindexter-Hodge has aspirations to be a News Anchorman, or an Entertainment Journalist. He would like to focus on headline news. Poindexter-Hodge would like to do on site reporting in the community and public, he also would like to conduct interviews. “I have loved interning here at the Los Angeles Sentinel/Watts Times,” said Poindexter-Hodge. “This is home for me, this is my family.”

Advice for students just entering college: “Always be on time to your classes. Read over your syllabus, that is your guideline for you to succeed and pass your class. Talk to your Professors, ask them questions, talk to them and visit them during their office hours if you are confused about an assignment or a test. Also, at least know one or two people in your class that you can study with or ask questions that really understand the class or subject. Visit and talk to your counselor every chance you get to see if you are on the right track or not. And finally, Study, Study, and Study!”
