The 2nd Annual Living Legends of Tennis Awards Brunch, held recently at Oscar’s Restaurant in Hawthorne, recognized seven African Americans who played significant roles in the development of tennis in Los Angeles.

The 2nd Annual Living Legends of Tennis Awards Brunch, held recently at Oscar’s Restaurant in Hawthorne, recognized seven African Americans who played significant roles in the development of tennis in Los Angeles.  From left are Hollis Smith, Marcel Freeman, Jerome Jones, Warrick “Rick” Jones, Victor Troy Collins, Henry Brandon, Maurice Hunter and Marty Woods, CEO and head coach for the Pete Brown Junior Tennis Program.  The event, sponsored by the Harvard Tennis Club, the Pacific Coast Championships and the Pete Brown Junior Tennis Program, raised funds to support junior tennis players, who will be participating in the American Tennis Association’s (ATA) national tennis tournament in Baltimore, Maryland this summer.
