Praise and rejoicing will mark the 6th Anniversary of Rose of Sharon A.M.E. Church set for Sunday, June 24, at 3:30 p.m., at the Saints of Value Center, 12110 East Firestone Boulevard in Norwalk.
Founding Pastor Carolyn Baskin-Bell will lead the congregation in celebrating the milestone along with guest preacher, Pastor Carolyn Cooks of Sunnyside Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
“In June 2006, four people took a risk and stepped out on faith. Now six years later, we observe the divine hand of God responding through the faithfulness demonstrated to a faithful people,” said Pastor Baskin-Bell.
“Rose of Sharon is indeed ‘releasing the fragrance of Jesus Christ’ and offering a safe haven for individuals seeking the redemptive, saving power of Jesus through the Word of God and prayer,” she noted.
“We praise God for the prayers and support of our presiding prelate, Bishop T. Larry Kirkland and Presiding Elder Roosevelt Lindsey. The Southern California Conference has assisted in the nurturing and developing of our church,” said Sister Billie Vincent, Anniversary co-chair.
“We anticipate a spirit-filled worship celebration and invite the entire community to come and experience the sweet fragrance of Jesus Christ at Rose of Sharon,” added Brother Donald Watkins, Anniversary co-chair.
The worship will include the newest ministry of Rose of Sharon, ‘Movement through Worship,’ led by Sister Sheradeen Morgan as well as the Sunnyside Baptist choirs.
