Revernd J.A. Freeman Succumbs

The family of Rev. J.A. Freeman, founder and pastor of Greater Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California, reports his passing on the morning of December 23, at their home in Lynwood California. Pastor Freeman was very active in the ministry in Los Angeles for over 50 years. He served as the Moderator for the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Association; Evangelistic Leader for the Crescent Bay (LAX Urban Extreme of the Southern Baptist Association); and instructor for the Congress of Christian Education of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Association.

Pastor Freeman was the leader of the “I Found It Campaign,” under Campus Crusade for Christ. He was involved in providing recognition each year for the Los Angeles Police Department, firemen, paramedics, and postal workers to acknowledge the heroic services they provided in the September 11th tragic events. In addition, he had been a tireless pastor, dedicated husband, loving father, mentor and evangelistic leader in the community. Pastor Freeman is survived by his wife and children.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 11:00am, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 4269 South Figueroa Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90037. The Wake will be held on January 4, at 4pm to 7pm at Greater Good Shepherd MBC, 1012 W. Florence Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90044.
