“Reality TV” Decays The Brain

Wives, Shores, Girls and Celebrity Couples…these television shows are all the rage today. It seems that there is a new one every month. We follow these people around looking through the lens into their supposed reality where they fight, cuss, screw and cry their way into our worlds and we can’t get enough of them. I can easily see why people get sucked in but I say fight the power!

Reality TV is mind-numbing trash! It contributes nothing to the development or social skills, character, spirit or mind…other than showing how depraved a person can become.

I guess my real, true gripe is that none of it is real! Nobody is going to act completely normal while a film crew stands there rolling away. I know, we all know this but we still act as though it is real.

Seeing a bunch of grown women curse each other out, pull hair, use foul language and then talk about ‘being a lady’ or a ‘real woman….’ it’s silliness.

Before anyone says anything, I admit that I have drunk the Kool-Aid a couple of times. I have indulged in the trash bin and been entertained by it…but trash still trash. I suppose it’s a guilty pleasure…there are a lot of TV programs that do just about the same thing.

It’s just a little disconcerting when you hear people talking about these shows like it’s the Cosby Show, Living Single or A Different World…and it’s nowhere near. I miss quality TV…it’s hard to find nowadays as people’s entertainment value continues to devolve.

If you haven’t guessed…this was a rant.
