Prop 4 Endangers Teens’ Health and Safety

Communication plays a huge role when it comes to teen and health safety. First and foremost not all teens live in a household where communication is possible and some teenagers who don’t have a stable relationship or who live in a violent home with their parents might fear talking to them about pregnancy.

Most teenagers don’t find out right away that they’re pregnant because they’re inexperienced and when they, do most don’t follow up for prenatal care right away. Coming up with a solution is critical for teen safety and health.

“The cost of taxpayers could be and issue to some people but there shouldn’t be a price tag for someone’s health or safety if they’re going to go down a dead end road and get desperate,” said a representative from Planned Parenthood in Los Angeles.

“In terms of the actual cost to taxpayers that’s something we can’t estimate at this time because we don’t know what agency would be in charged or what governmental body would be overseeing this process.”

Two, rich anti-choice extremists who haven’t supported parental notification but approved all abortions are supporting the funds on the ballot. The Yes individuals are trying very hard to terrify the public because they know parents are worried about their kids’ safety and health. That’s understandable; but you have to look at the best interests for your kids and that’s protecting your child making sure they have the right tools to help them.

There are high rates of unplanned teenage pregnancy. About 35 states currently support some form of parental consent/notification laws and the outcome should affect as a warning to California parents. What is happening in other states with parental notification is execrable and we want to protect California teens. Many teens will make their own decisions out of emotions and fear(illegal abortions, running away from home, and self abort). We want to give our teens options and that means seeking support from protective people other than family members. This proposition is very crucial and it could very easily dispel because most voters are focused more on the President election and not the Propositions. There are about 12 million voters out there for this election.

The campaign for Teen Safety is supported by people who work with teens everyday like the California Nurses Association, The California Teachers Association, The California Academy of Family Physicians, The ACLU, Planned Parenthood, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Teachers and millions of parents who supports the Safety of California Teens.
