In the spirit of Christmas, Pastor Benjamin Hollins and the members of Price Chapel A.M.E. Church will help children of incarcerated parents have a more enjoyable season.
On Sunday, December 21, at the 10 a.m. worship, the congregation will sponsor Angel Tree Sunday to share fellowship, food, toys and gifts with more than 100 young people in their edifice located at 4000 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.
‘We hope to assist children facing Christmas separated from their mom or dad by dedicating this day to them. Linda Swanson, our Membership and Evangelism Commission chair and Angel Tree coordinator, is continuing Price Chapel’s eight year history of serving Angel Tree children, their guardians and incarcerated parents in this community,’ said Pastor Hollins.
The Rev. Debora Postell, chaplain for the Southern California Region of Prison Fellowship and Angel Tree Ministry, will be the guest preacher. Chaplain Postell directs the ministry programs at correctional facilities in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. She also serves as Reentry Field Director where she provides a bridge church and referrals for housing, employment, education and family services.
“More than 1.7 million children will spend Christmas away from their imprisoned parents. Churches and groups can help sponsor a child by sending a check payable to Price Chapel A.M.E. Church and write ‘Angel Tree Ministry Donation’ on the memo line,” added Pastor Hollins.
“Please join us in spreading the spirit of Christmas to those who need it most.”
