President Obama said Yes, Will the people say No?

Wellington’s Road

Recently, President Barack Obama endorsed same-sex marriage, effectively putting the civil issue in motion to becoming reality. It has been the talk of the town in may towns across the United States and many, including the gay community, are questioning his recent change of heart.

Some are saying Obama’s decision is due to his need of the gay community’s vote for his re-election campaign. I personally feel that it is the bulk of the reason the president has changed his mind on the issue. The president needs all the help he can get because the sharks our out for blood this election year. I never really felt he was a firm yes or no when it came to same-sex marriage, possibly due to his religious convictions. I guess we can say now he’s definitely for it…but at what price?

The Black community, which has a tendency to be predominately Christian, is definitely going to have a reaction. Some churches are against Obama’s decision and calling for folks not to vote for Obama for endorsing homosexual unions. There are others who feel it’s a separation of church and politics; the president has to represent everyone not his religious or spiritual convictions.

I feel President Obama needs prayer NOW more than ever. He is between a rock and a very hard place. He’s literally been in a ‘damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t’ area since he took office. He needs prayer for guidance, whether the presidency is about religion or not, because the world is getting murky.

Ultimately, Obama is an example of all of us who call ourselves Christian. There is going to come a time when we will have to stand for Jesus and all He represents or choose the world and all that it represents. The world is finite and has an end. Jesus and His kingdom are infinite with no end. You do the math.

I believe President Obama made a hard choice…but I don’t believe he’s lost or damned for that choice…just as we aren’t for our choices we’ve made in the past…but our continual choices do speak to our allegiance.

Let’s keep praying for our president, our country and each other. Let nothing surprise you because these are the last days the Bible speaks of and many things are going to happen…and always remember this…

“In this world ye shall have tribulations, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
