Praise to the Working Man!
By Alfonzo Tucker (Columnist)

Hello world, hope all is well with you and yours, as always I hope these words find you in peace. What I would like to offer you this week is a bit of recognition. Ladies please do not feel left out as you all have given life to the men I'll praise in this article. Of course we would not be able to accomplish our goals if it were not for the support you offer us on a daily bases. Ladies just give me a moment and in the weeks to come I'll submerge you all in heart felt words that should make many of you smile and the rest of you purr.

As a man I recognize the unique ability that many of us possess. That ability being the acceptance of life challenges. For those of you who lose comfort and sleep to provide for your families. I admire you. For those of you who forgo the indulgence of material possessions so as to feed and clothe your families, I admire you! For those of you who save and prepare for the future of your families, you are to be commended.

I hope to become that type of man some day. I've always admired you! When I was in my teenage years living in areas where most men lived in an extremely negative narcissistic fashion, an altruistic personality was not the norm. So those of you who provide for your families, care for your children and are devoted to your spouses. This is not June 21st 2009, nor just a single praise for a moment for one day. This is a tribute to your way of life, an accommodation for adhering to the responsibilities of parenthood or to the caregiver for the tasks you are accountable for. Again I think highly of you!

Who am I to offer such praise? I am a man who appreciates you all from the out side looking in. Last week a friend stated the following, "I do not buy anything for myself because I want my wife and kids to have everything they need". That same friend celebrated eighteen years of marriage by taking his wife to dinner at a restaurant that overlooks the Golden Gate Bridge.

Not every man accepts the obligation of husband, father, provider, protector and cultivator of positive life memories (the type of memories that lead young men to follow a constructive path and more so young women to seek the love of responsible men). For those of you who lead this life style and do not expect to be honored, humility is more than a gift! Your, unassuming nature is the key which provides joy to those in your life.

For those of you who know of someone deserving, place this article on his desk, in his lunch box, in his coat pocket, on the front seat of his car or any place that he'll find it. Allow these words to be yours as you offer him praise for being the good man that we all admire.

When I was a youth, I remember watching a television show and observing a man behaving in a pliable fashion. My first thought was that he was soft, as a man today; I hope that my family views me in the same manner. Yet, SOFT would be an acronym for, STRENGTH, OPTIMISM, FOCUS and TRIUMPH.

Do you know of a man how carries himself with these types of attributes? If so, please let him know how deserving he is of your praise.
