Playboy Jazz Festival Lineup Announced

Herbie Hancock Tops The Bill For The Fest’s 30th Annual Jazz Party at the Hollywood Bowl 

Album of the year Grammy winner Herbie Hancock will close out this year’s 30th annual Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl June 14 and 15, organizers announced at the Playboy Mansion confirmed.

052808_HerbieHancockHancock, who won top album honors along with best contemporary jazz album for “River: The Joni Letters,” will headline the festival’s second day with an all-star band of bassist Dave Holland, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, saxophonist Christ Potter and guitarist Lionel Loueke.

Al Jarreau and the Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band will headline the festival’s first day, which will also include the James Moody Quartet, Dr. John, Tower of Power, R n R featuring Rick Braun and Richard Elliot, Hiromi’s Sonicbloom, Sherrie Maricle & the Diva Jazz Orchestra, and many others.

Among the acts on the second day are Keb’ Mo’, the Roy Hargrove Big Band, Guitars & Saxes featuring Gerald Albright, Jeff Golub, Jeff Lorber and Peter White, plus Dee Dee Bridgewater Red Earth: A Malian Journey.
