The Senior Usher Board of Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church celebrated its 82nd Anniversary in a dynamic worship service on November 25.
‘For Even the Son of Man Came Not to be Served, But to Serve,’ from Mark 10:45, was the theme.
“Our ushers play a vital role,” noted Pastor Bernard M. Jackson. “Enter to Worship, Depart to Serve” guides us, but our real mission and hope is that souls are saved and that lives are changed.”
“The Senior Ushers will be on post at the C.M.E. Ninth Episcopal District’s Southern California Region (SCR) Mid-Winter Council at Phillips Temple on December 7 and 8,” said Board President Gene Brown, who also is the SCR Conference Usher President.
Presiding Bishop James B. Walker will convene ‘The Invested Life: Making Disciples of All Nations One Person at a Time,’ on December 7. The public is invited to attend.
With a long history of service, the Senior Board currently has 27 members and the Junior Usher Board has 12 members serving Phillips Temple.
“With fervent prayer, we praise our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for bringing our ushers thus far, and with confidence we know that the best is yet to come,” said Pastor Jackson.
