Park Windsor Baptist Church will host its second ‘Athens Community Thanksgiving Feast’ on Saturday, November 9, at 11 a.m., at its campus at 1842 West 108th Street in Los Angeles.
According to Pastor Terrell Taylor, the congregation will serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal to 300 needy and homeless veterans as part of their mission to offer ministries that serve and benefit the entire community.
“Athens Community Thanksgiving Feast is our way of paying homage and displaying our appreciation to those veterans who have sacrificed their lives to protect and serve our country,” said Pastor Taylor.
“In addition, it is an approach from the heart to demonstrate to other needy and homeless families that ‘we care’ and more importantly, God loves them.”
Local businesses are generously supporting the church’s community efforts, added Pastor Taylor. Rick Enterprises will supply appliances, S & S Portable Service will contribute Port-a-Potties, L.A. Party Rentals will provide tents and Lee’s Market in Watts will smoke the turkeys. Medical professionals will conduct health screenings and the LAPD, L.A. County Sheriff and the L.A. Fire Departments will provide security and first aid.
Also, the National Council of Negro Women Athens- Westmont Unit will sponsor a Coat and Blanket Giveaway. To donate a blanket or a coat, call NCNW representative Tomina Mitchell at (310) 245-7593.
