Pamela M. Ruffins Succumbs

Pamela Marstel Ruffins was eulogized on Feb. 19, by her sister, Lana Michelle Ruffins, at the Holy Cross Mortuary Chapel. She was the daughter of the late Murphy J. Ruffins Jr., former Sentinel photographer, who was noted for his expertise in photography and a wedding specialist.

“My sweet sister, words cannot express the deep sadness that overwhelms me because I will not be able to see your beautiful face. I always gave you 25 kisses on the forehead every time I saw you, and you would let me know if I happened to short you! I only know life with you in it. I thank you for being my Pamarama., always displaying great love, quality and style,” noted Miss Ruffins of her sister.

Fr. Lawrence Shelton officiated, nieces and nephews participated.

The third child of five born to Murphy J. and Pecola Salone Ruffins on April 19, 1959, Pamela passed on Feb. 7. She attended the 74th Street Elementary School, Horace Mann Junior High, Westchester High School and continued her college education in Los Angeles.

Miss Ruffins was known for her beauty, kindness, generosity, manners, wonderful voice, penmanship, knowledge, ability to answer Jeopardy questions, love of walking and her favorite color, purple! She was light-hearted and a lot of fun. Independent, the song “I Did It My Way,” must have been written for her, as she lived her life to the fullest and did what she wanted to do!

She loved her family and friends and taught them to “stay in touch,” be respectful, get an education and never give up on your dreams. She was proud, spiritual, always thoughtful (never missed a birthday or holiday greeting), kind, caring, full of laughter, quiet at times, smart, strong and always grateful for anything that anyone did for her.

Miss Ruffins is survived by her mother, Mrs. Pecola S. Ruffins; brother. Murphy J. (One’) Ruffins III; sisters, Lana M. Ruffins, Sheree’ Ruffins (Tyrone) Rouzan, and Stella Ruffins (Tyreese) Sims; nieces, Shae LaRee Rouzan and Sheyenne Salone Sims; nephews, Brandon Giovanni Ruffins, Ty Murphy Rouzan., Jagger Giancarlo Ruffins and Tyson Aumua Ruffins; and many other relatives and friends.

Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
