PAINT IT FORWARD – ART THAT SAVES LIVES!(tm) AND SHE CARES FOUNDATION HONOR MOMS OF THE NBA AT THE ART THAT SAVES LIVES! SPORTS ART EXHIBITION AND CHARITY AUCTION DURING ALL STAR WEEKEND
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 8th, 2011) – UMCA Sports’ Paint It Forward! Art That Saves Lives(tm) and She Cares Foundation will honor mothers of the NBA at their inaugural Art That Saves Lives! Sports Art Exhibition & Charity Auction on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 6-9pm, at the California African American Museum. Proceeds to benefit various youth and community based programs.
In Los Angeles there are an estimated 400 gangs and 41,000 gang members. Statistics show that children as young as eight years old have been recruited into criminal street gangs. The Art That Saves Lives! Sports Art Exhibition & Charity Auction aims to be a part of the solution by supporting at-risk youth and community empowerment programs with proceeds from its sports art exhibits and auctions.
On February 17th, Paint It Forward – Art That Saves Lives! and She Cares will pay tribute to the moms of the NBA for their sacrifice, commitment and leadership in the lives of some of the greatest NBA players who have ever graced the court. Deloris Jordan (Michael Jordan), Mary Anthony (Carmello Anthony) and Amber Rondo (Rajon Rondo) are amongst the evening’s honorees.
A special award will be presented to NBA Hall of Famer and Texas Legends Head Coach, Nancy Lieberman.
The Art That Saves Lives! Sports Art Exhibition & Charity Auction will take place at The California African American Museum on Thursday, February 17, 2011 6-9pm. Comedian Joe Clair and actor John Marshall Jones will host the evening’s exhibition as we celebrate The Art & Spirit of Ernie Barnes.
