Due to overwhelming demand, registration for the Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament at L.A. LIVE has been extended to Friday, July 15th! After two highly successful years, the Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament is set to return to L.A. LIVE and the streets of downtown Los Angeles for its third installment that will take place on Friday, August 5- Sunday, August 7, 2011 in and around Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE. Team registration is now open for players of all age groups and skill levels at www.nike3on3.com.
The entry fee for all participating teams in the standard and elite divisions is $160; Both the Special Olympics and Wheelchair divisions are free of charge. This year, all players that register for the Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament will receive a guaranteed minimum of three games to play, ticket to a 2011/12 regular season Los Angeles Clippers game, a POWERADE drawstring backpack, participant Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament T-shirt and the opportunity to win more great prizes!
In addition to all players receiving a ticket to an upcoming Los Angeles Clippers game, all women’s team registrants will also receive a ticket to an upcoming Los Angeles Sparks game for the 2011-12 season as well.
The Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament has grown from 500 teams in its’ inaugural year to over 1,000 teams, 4,000 players and 25,000 spectators making it one of the premier 3on3 street basketball tournaments in California. Around L.A. LIVE, STAPLES Center and along Chick Hearn Court, the Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament will have approximately 100 outdoor basketball courts set up and an interactive Fan Fest to accommodate the thousands of athletes, guests and families participating in this year’s event.
Players of all ages, gender and skill levels are invited to participate in the Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament. Individual brackets will be divided into appropriate divisions based on a combination of skill, age, gender and height to achieve “level” competition. Teams may consist of a maximum of four (4) players with a minimum of three (3) players required.
The tournament features four main divisions of play: Standard, Adult Elite, Special Olympics and Wheelchair. The Standard division includes three categories of participants: adult, high school (oldest player’s next grade will be 9-12) and youth (oldest player’s next grade will be 3-8). The Nike Elite Division also consists of three categories of players: Women, Men’s 6 Foot and under and Men’s Over 6 Foot. Players will then choose between Recreational and Competitive levels of competition at which time brackets will be formed based upon these criteria and those delineated above.

The Nike 3on3 Basketball Tournament Fan Fest, open to all competing athletes and the general public, will open Friday, August 5th and be free of charge. The three-day experience will feature a variety of events at the Nike Center Court, including the highly anticipated Nike Slam Dunk Contest, special athletes appearances, autograph sessions, live music, food and beverage areas, and basketball-themed activities and competitions.
