Displaying enthusiasm and excitement, the members of the Church Women (CWU) United South Bay came together to install its Executive Board on September 22, at Morningside United Christian Church.

“As the youngest unit in the nation, we seek to empower Christian Women to transform their lives and navigate their destiny to the fullest potential,” said President Joyce L. Randall as she accepted the charge to lead the organization.

The Rev. Virginia Greeley, CWU State President, conducted the installation of officers. They are the Rev. Randall, President; Crystal G. Field, First Vice President; Exhorter Gwen Williams, Second Vice President; Stewardess Martha Key, Third Vice President; Fannie Mendavile, Secretary; Yvonne Parker, Treasurer; Christina Perez, Communications; the Rev. Earline Gentry, Ecumenical Action; the Rev. Mildred Butler, Ecumenical Celebrations; Stewardess Evelyn Worthy, Ecumenical Development; Debbye Henry, First to Serve Meaning and Purpose; Evangelist Janice Farmer, Hospitality; Pamela Curtis, Newsletter Editor; JoHelen Shumate, Nominations; Jonae Watts, Public Relations; Joya Shelton, Publicist; Yvonne Allen, Webmaster; and Official Photographer, Charles Henderson of PhotoVideoMagic.

Special guests included CWU State Treasurer Marie Durflinger and Activist Molly Bell.  According to President Randall, “Sister Molly was in rare form and gave the festivities the celebrity icing on the cake.”

Highlighting the program was a panel of men to address the unit’s theme, ‘Healthy Relationships’ that featured Dr. Lemuel ‘Mack’ Mossett III, Morris ‘Big Money’ Griffin, Charles Henderson, and Chauncey Nixon.

“They represented well the sentiments of healthy relationships between men and women and the iconic Dr. Cecil L. ‘Chip’ Murray exceeded expectations as the panel facilitator,” noted the president.
