Music instructors, performers and arrangers will gather at the Western Regional Conference sponsored by the National Association of Negro Musicians (NANM) starting Friday, April 27 through Saturday, April 28.

All activities take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2230 Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Rev. Virginia Brown is host pastor.

Among the highlights is the special choral concert on Friday at 7:15 p.m., according to Arvis Jones, NANM Western Region Director.

“If you miss this concert, you will miss a wonderful, spiritually uplifting event. We will present chorale music for everyone’s taste. Plus, your assistance supports NANM music education of our youth,” she said.

The concert includes Director Dorothy Jackson Hayes and the GLB Symphonic Chorale, Director Byron J. Smith and the Grant A.M.E. Church Choir, Director William Campbell, Jr., and the Holman UMC Choir, Director Quincy Fielding, Jr., and the Los Angeles Gospel Messengers, Director Peter Roberts and the Voices of Trinity, and Director Susan Grayson Warren and the Westminster Choir.

Founded in 1919, NANM promotes, preserves, and supports all genres of music created or performed by African Americans.

Call (213) 924-3510 for more information on the conference.
