Miracle on 51st Street Free Toy and Book Giveaway
By Sentinel News Service
Published January 3, 2013

On Friday, Dec. 21, Senator Curren D. Price, Jr. joined with critically acclaimed director F Gary Gray (“Friday,” “Italian Job” “The Negotiator”), actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, and the Sheila Starks Foundation to distribute toys and books to 75 families being served by Beyond Shelter, a non-profit organization in South Los Angeles, that assists homeless families in securing permanent housing.

Initially, officials from Beyond Shelter had adopted 200 homeless families for their holiday giveaway. However donations fell short of what they needed. Price decided to step in, working with Director F. Gary Gray and Sheila Starks of the Stephanie Starks Hope Foundation to donate new toys and reading books to the children.

Veteran comedian Michael Colyar also stopped by to show his support.
