Mayor Butts & Pastor Norwood

Inglewood Mayor James Butts joined Pastor Jynona Norwood in serving Holy Communion during the Easter worship at Miracles In Action Faith Center on April 20.

The service capped a weeklong celebration of the resurrection of Christ.  Special guests included Dr. Barbara Reynolds, a founding editor of USA Today; Elder Gerald Harris, senior administrative assistant for the California Northwest Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, Inc.; and gospel rapper, Holy-D.

“I’ve met tens of thousands of people over a 40-year career of public service and there are none better than Dr. Norwood,” declared Mayor Butts.

“I was guided into this life of service and I just love the opportunity to serve. We’ve been blessed here in Inglewood,” he said, referring to the purchase of the Forum by Madison Square Garden and construction of Hollywood Park Tomorrow.  Both projects occurred during his tenure and will generate more than 3400 jobs in the city.

“I have tried to be an obedient servant of the Lord and as a result, I’ve been allowed the opportunity to help others reach their dreams. That’s the one thing that I would like to be said about me when my time is over.”

The worship also marked the seventh anniversary of the revealed manifestation of the appearance of Jesus in the church sanctuary.

“Dignitaries, civil rights leaders, celebrities, their families and the community pilgrimaged to the church to witness this great sight,” recalled Dr. Norwood, who shared photos during the service depicting the miracle.

Dr. Norwood’s television program appears on the Word Network on Mondays at 10 p.m., and her radio broadcast is on KTYM 1460 AM, Monday through Friday at 3:45 p.m.
