Margaret Black Succumbs

December 8, 1924-May 31, 2010

Margaret Cathryn Whitfield Black, known by family and friends as “M.C.”, graduated from Fargo Agricultural High School in Fargo, AR, where she was valedictorian of her class. After moving to Los Angeles, she worked as the manager of the cafeteria at California Industries for the Blind. Margaret was also very involved in other organizations for the blind (as both a member and a volunteer), including the Braille Institute and Active Blind.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Minnette, her sister Althia, her grandchildren Rhea, Jason and William, Jr., her great-grandson Wade, her nephew, John Whitfield, Sr., her great-nephew, John Jr., and a host of cousins and friends.

Services will be held at Harrison-Ross Mortuary, 4601 South Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA on Friday, June 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Active Blind, Inc., P.O. Box 1946, Glendora, CA 91740-0998.
