A community salute to Paul E. Kidd, Jr. is planned to recognize his outstanding contributions as a distinguished radio broadcaster, producer and executive for more than 50 years in Southern California.

The event will be on Sunday, October 30, at 3:30 p.m., at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 4269 South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. The Rev. Dr. Melvin Wade Sr. is host pastor.

Kidd’s tremendous impact on religious broadcasting and several people is reflected in the comments of various individuals throughout the community.

“Congratulations to my friend, Paul Kidd, Jr., for 50 years in radio. We go back to the KFWB days when we were both trying to brake into the radio business; even then, you were a voice to the City of Los Angeles and a voice for gospel music. You have blessed thousands of people. I love and respect you. You are a gift to the Body of Christ, a gift to gospel music and a gift to Los Angeles.”
Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer, Pastor/Teacher, Faithful Central Bible Church, Inglewood, CA

“Saluting Paul Kidd, a Living Legend, on whose shoulders many stand. We commend you for your successful, superior and stellar career in Radio Broadcasting.”
Edna Tatum, Host of ‘Gospel Classic’ on KPFK 90.7 FM

“I consider Paul Kidd to be a mentor of mine in the gospel music industry. Paul prepared me for what I do now as a gospel announcer hosting ‘Spread The Word’ every Sunday on 102.3 KJLH. I love and respect Paul so much. That’s my dude.”
Aundrae Russell, Program Director, 102.3 FM KJLH

“Paul Kidd Jr., was there at my begging, he actually saw my transformation from sinner to saint at KGFJ and I thank God for Brotha Paul, who was purposed before the foundation of the earth to be a part of my plan for salvation. God bless you, Brotha Paul, for your obedience and faithfulness, I love you.”
Delores Thompson-Simon, Radio & TV Host, ‘Yo Girl Delores’

“As host of the Amen Corner, Paul Kidd presented gospel music to a worldwide military audience for 25 years. He helped me improve my professional audio engineering skills through joint projects with choirs, groups, and church broadcast ministries. Congrats Paul, my mentor, colleague, and friend. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!”
Ron Jeffries and Family, Former Engineer, Armed Forces Radio Network

“I am thrilled that Paul Kidd, Jr. is finally getting a tribute. He has given so much to the gospel community and helped many friends, businesses and churches along the way. I am happy to be a part of the celebration as my way of saying thanks. We should all come out and tip our fabulous, Sunday hats to a true gentleman with a giving spirit and a kind, loving heart.”
Licia Sheare, Actress and Former Assistant Program Director at KGFJ-AM

“To my friend and golfing buddy, I salute you as one who has such a great gift of articulation, and such know how, as a radio host, to present gospel music that is both edifying and renders internal solace.”
Dr. Melvin V. Wade Sr., Senior Pastor, Mount Moriah Baptist Church

“Without alienating its core listenership, and with a strong sense and awareness of what traditional gospel music had meant to the community over the years, Paul Kidd, Jr., as a visionary during his tenure at KGFJ, was able to incorporate contemporary gospel music by using progressive programming strategies.”
Narvelan Coleman, Former Regional/Local Promotional Rep., Black Music PolyGram Records and Chicago Gospel International Records
