Produced by Waverly Coleman and event planning firm, United We Function, The Brown Girls Love Brunch tour recently made a stop in Los Angeles after previous events in New York and Atlanta. At the youthful age of 28, Brown’s empire includes the brands, Brown Girls Love, Love Brown Sugar and Baby Brown Sugar. Having previously been featured in VOGUE Italia, Essence Magazine and The Huffington Post, to name a few, Brown is recognized for creating one of the fastest growing lifestyle brands for multicultural women with an emphasis on self-empowerment.
While discussing the subject of evolution and not being afraid to step outside of your comfort zone in order to go to the next level of your success; Brown shared three major keys for how she’s continued to evolve in the ever changing digital space.
Tip #1 Don’t Be Afraid Of Change:
“My first blog post where I talked about myself and showed photos of myself was my most successful post. The influx of support from people who hadn’t seen my face on my blog before was life changing. It’s really important to embrace change because it was scary for me to put my face out there, show people who I was and tell my story but that’s what brought me to another level and that’s where the opportunities came for me to monetize my platform.
Tip #2 Follow Your Heart:
“Think about what it is that you love and how you can use the skills that you have to help other people. You’ll leave feeling empty everyday if you’re doing something just for the [social media] numbers, money or whatever you think the “traditional” view of success is.
Tip #3 Explore Uncharted Territory:
There’s no reward without risk. It was a big risk for me to embark on this tour. There’s a lot that goes into branching off and doing something new. Evolution is really important for your personal brand, if you have a business and you’re selling products it’s important in that arena as well. In every aspect of your life, it’s important that you continue to grow and evolve.”
