Loyola’s Jamal Adams to Coach Southern Boys Team: Etiwanda’s Dave Klectner to Receive Life Time Achievement Award

Loyola High School’s Jamal Adams has been selected to coach the boy’s senior Southern Section all-star team at Collision XVI on Saturday April 19 at Redondo Union High School in Redondo.

Adams, who guides Loyola which features McDonalds All American Thomas Welch and Arizona guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, was honored to received the nod in the prestigious Collision which annual features the top graduating seniors facing off in a bi-sectional clash.

“I am happy to do, thrilled to be apart of it and look forward all of the excitement involved in the event,” said Adams.

He will not be the only prominent Southern Section coach at Collision XVI, because Etiwanda’s Dave Kleckner will receive the annual Jim Harrick Life Time Achievement Award.

Kleckner coached the boy’s Southern section team when his own Darren Collison earned MVP in 2005 and has seen a number of his player participate and star in the event.

“I’ll be there, for sure. It’s a tremendous honor,” said Kleckner.

Other awards that will be presented during the event will be the Albert ‘Cap’ Lavin Memorial Scholar Athlete of the Year to the top girl and boy academic achiever, the Lisa Willis MVP Award to the girls game standout, Boys MVP and the Barbara Fiege Women’s Life Time Achievement Award.

Coaches for the girls Southern Section, girls and boys City Section teams will be determined by February 19, and rosters will be announced on Wednesday March 8.
