Local Leaders, Students, and Compton Residents Step Up For Breast Cancer

Official Support — In an effort to raise breast cancer awareness, Compton residents put on their sneakers and hit the streets for the Second Annual “Walk For a Cure,” Saturday, October 19, in front of Walton Middle School. This year’s event was sponsored by sisters Satra Zurita (right), board clerk, Compton Unified School District’s (CUSD) Board of Trustees; city of Compton Councilwoman Janna Zurita (District 1); and Assemblyman Isadore Hall, III (D –Compton). Local leaders including Congresswoman Janice Hahn (D – 44th District, left) also participated in the event alongside District staff, students, and families.

Walking For a Cure — Compton families walk together, Saturday, October 19, as they raise awareness and support for breast cancer research.

Pink Power — CUSD Board Member Mae Thomas (third in row) thanks participants including Miss Compton Cheyenne Brown (fourth) and Miss Jr. Teen Compton Brandy Johnson (fifth) for supporting this year’s “Walk For a Cure,” Saturday, October 19.
