Lady Alicia Hamilton, founder and CEO of The Revelation Network, president of PAC RED (Preparation and Awareness for Community Resiliency in Emergencies and Disasters) and Red Cross Community ambassador, spoke at a disaster preparedness conference Saturday April 12, at the Los Angeles headquarters of the Church of Scientology in honor of National Volunteer Week.

Speakers also included Dr. Jannah Scot, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Scientology Volunteer Minister Alf Garbutt; Hollywood Emergency Leadership Project (HELP) Co-Chair Abel Varela; LA County Office of Emergency Management Director Jeff Reeb; and Emergency Network Los Angeles (ENLA) Program Manager Alix Stayton.

The speakers briefed disaster response volunteers on the services that will and will not be available after a major earthquake or other cataclysmic event in L.A.—that during a major disaster, police, fire department and other agencies will be unable to cope with anything but the most life-threatening issues.  Volunteers will be essential in responding to the needs of the community.

As Red Cross Community ambassador, Lady Hamilton gave an overview of the many important services provided by that organization.  She also explained the mission of PAC RED: To educate residents and stakeholders within their local communities on the importance of disaster awareness and preparedness by ensuring emergency planning, training and resources are available and accessible to everyone regardless of age, gender, race, religion or affluence.

Lady talked about simple actions any family, church or business can take to ensure they survive a disaster and stressed the importance of training to learn the skills needed to better serve family and community before an event occurs. She makes this information available to the public on The Revelation Network’s DAPP #911 Portal (Disaster Awareness Preparedness & Planning). The disaster response preparedness event was hosted by Tracie Parker, humanitarian programs director of the Church of Scientology International.
