LAPD Officer Killed in the Line of Duty

02708_RandalSimmonsLAPD Special Weapons and Tactics Officer Randal Simmons was killed in the line of duty on February 7, 2008.  Officer Simmons was a 27 year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and served on the SWAT team for 25 years continuing his tenure even after he was eligible for retirement.  A civil servant committed to the urban community and the mentoring of inner-city youth, Officer Simmons leaves behind his wife Lisa, son Matthew (age 15) and daughter Gabrielle (age 13).
