More than four decades of Christian and community service by the Rev. Dr. Sylvester Washington will be recognized on Sunday, October 12, at 2 p.m., at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
During an afternoon ceremony on the church’s campus, elected officials and civic leaders will unite to dedicate a stone monument depicting the legacy of Dr. Washington.
Dr. Washington has devoted more than 45 years to improving his community. During his tenure as pastor of Pleasant Hill, Mayors Tom Bradley and Antonio Villaraigosa, U.S. Congresswomen Maxine Walters and Karen Bass, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and L.A. Councilman Bernard Parks have saluted his contributions.
Also, Dr. Washington is the National Executive Director of The Evangelism Movement, Inc., and the founder of several non-profit outreach programs.
