LA City Council drops sidewalk repair fees

The Los Angeles City Council recently unanimously supported Councilman Buscaino’s motion to eliminate the city’s fees associated with sidewalk reconstruction undertaken by property owners. Before this motion, city residents who self funded the repair of their sidewalk were stuck with additional permit fees from this city.

“Today, the City Council took a small but significant step toward addressing the estimated 4,600 miles of broken sidewalks by unanimously voting to eliminate all permit fees associated with sidewalk repair. Until we implement a comprehensive repair program, the very least we can do is stop penalizing responsible homeowners and business owners with exorbitant fees when they are willing to proactively repair their own sidewalks, at their own cost,” said Councilman Joe Buscaino
