Kurtis Blow to perform at Regency West as local groups premier documentary ‘Have You Seen My Father?’ on June 16

Legendary old school rapper Kurtis Blow will be the featured performer at premier of an explosive documentary ‘Have You Seen My Father’ hosted by local organizations Taking Responsibility for Our Community (BTROC) and Taylormade Entertainment (TME) on Sunday June 16 at the Regency West 3339 W 43rd St. from 4p.m. to 9p.m.



The documentary addresses a subject matter in a rarely seen public forum as it tackles the complicated dynamics of fatherless households in the African American community.


According the 1996 United States Census, America was the world leader in fatherless families with 33 percent of children living absent their biological father


Ron Taylor whose company created the concept of the documentary is a living example of that statistic and as a father has been personally impacted the lives of his two sons independently.



‘Have You Seen My Father?’ which was filmed in and around Los Angeles with in depth interviews with single fathers, grandmothers, mothers and foster children and others that the elements of a fatherless home has affected.


The US Census also revealed the startling figure that 63 percent of Black children compared to 2 percent of white and 35 percent of Hispanics live in a home without their biological father.


The United States is now the world’s leader in fatherless families. U.S. Census Bureau 1996.


The National Fatherhood Initiative of 2001 revealed that over 1.7 million babies were born out of the wedlock in 2007 and One-fourth (25%) of America’s children live in mother-only families. 


While there is many contributing factors influence the lack of fathers in households, the documentary attempts to shed light on the subject and open a progressive dialogue about a solution to a condition that has negatively impacted all aspects of live in Black communities throughout America.



Presented by Taylormade Entertainment in association with BTROC, a local non-profit organization that specializes in antiviolence, gang and drug and alcohol prevention, ‘Have You Seen My Father’ will be distributed both domestically and nationally.


“We want this event to be about our organization introducing itself in this community while being responsible for ourselves,” said Lymon Foster of BTROC.


“I believe that just about every Black household has been impacted by lack fatherhood in our community. As a father myself it is a responsibility that I do not take lightly and this documentary will become a teaching tool and guide for each of us to do our part,” added Ron Z, CEO of Taylormade Entertainment.


Blow will headline the entertainment for the event that will also include dinner with the $20 price of admission. Tickets available at Inglewood Tickets.
