June 25, 2009: Councilmember Bernard C. Parks concludes Championship Parade by Awarding Lakers Organization a Congratulatory Resolution

Councilmember Bernard C. Parks honored the 2009 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers with a congratulatory resolution during the team’s Championship Day Parade held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

“This is a great day to be in the world-famous Coliseum, this is a great day for the city of Los Angeles, and this is a great day to be a Laker’s fan!” Councilmember Bernard C. Parks said as he addressed the capacity crowd who were enjoying the festivities with-in the Coliseum. “On behalf of the Los Angeles City Council, I would like to present this resolution honoring the Lakers organization, the players, Phil Jackson and his fantastic coaching staff and also Dr. Jerry Buss and the Buss Family for their incredible accomplishment.”

The resolution honoring the Lakers was signed by all 15 members of the City council including the City Clerk, City Attorney and the Mayor.

Councilmember Bernard C. Parks represents the 8th Council District, which is home to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
