Last night Esperanza Spalding performed as a featured artist at the 10th annual BET Music Awards hosted by Queen Latifah at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Esperanza paid tribute to Prince who received a lifetime achievement award. She accompanied herself on standup bass for ‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’ and also sang with Janelle Monae, Patti LaBelle and Alicia Keys.

The BET AWARDS’10 recognized the achievements of artists, entertainers and athletes in 19 different categories. Look for Esperanza’s new release, Chamber Music Society, August 17, on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group.
