California bound 6’4 guard Jordan Matthews says that he just love playing with his teammates at Santa Monica High School, but it took another brilliant game winning performance for him to do it one more time.

Matthews’ team had been leading Loyola and coach Jamal Adams for most of three quarters and when the Cubs los star point guard Parker Jackson Cartwright to an ankle injury late in the second half victory seemed almost certain.

However, the resilient Cubs fought back from deficits of 11 points twice in the game to tie it in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, but an early three point attempt game Santa Monica the ball with the scored deadlocked at 50.

With 14 seconds remaining and the clocked ticking down, Matthews caught a pass and pulled up from the three point arch, sinking it and pushing Santa Monica to Sacramento for the D-1 State finals March 23rd with a 53-50 victory.

“ I just love my teammates and I didn’t want our season to end. I want to keep playing with theses guys,” said an exciting Matthews following the game at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario Saturday
