Rev. Charolyn Jones of Los Angeles was among the 28 students receiving a Master of Divinity degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) on May 21. An ordained itinerant deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, Rev. Jones serves as an associate minister at Brookins Community A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles led by Pastor C. Dennis Williams.

Rev. Jones attended the SFTS Southern California campus in Pasadena. A native of Los Angeles, she earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from University of LaVerne before attending seminary.

She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Among Rev. Jones’ interests are implementing ministries such as feeding, legal clinics and prayer for congregations and community at large. Last summer, Rev. Jones helped organize a free legal clinic at Ward A.M.E. Church to provide services to low-income residents in the greater Los Angeles area.

SFTS is acclaimed as a training ground for international theologians and pastors. Founded in 1871, SFTS is an institution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a member of the Graduate Theological Union.
