June 28-30

BET EXPERIENCE AT L.A. LIVE is set for June 28 -30. It will be a weekend event, Friday-Sunday.  For the first time BET will be dominating the LA scene for a whole weekend of hot music and entertainment.  BET is coming full circle, producing not only their traditional award show, but additional musical performances and comedy shows. They are pulling out all the stops with a BET Fan Fest, showings of up in coming films and TV shows. There will be a BET GRAMMY Museum exhibit. Celebrity events and BET pre parties will be in full effect. BET is aiming for something new and fresh for the fans to engage in.  This sounds great. Glad to see BET reinventing themselves. BET will then kick off the show with “106 & PARK” Live. Then top off it off with the BET AWARDS SHOW.  The BET Experience at L.A. Live is selling like hot cakes, hurry and get your tickets!

Grammy award winner The Roots will be performing at the BET Experience at L.A. Live. The hip hop/neo soul group will be hitting the stage Saturday night. They will be joined by rappers MC Lyte, Nelly, Eve and Too Short. They’ve been on the scene since the 90s.  Despite their vintage career they have stayed true to their sound.  We can say their sound is a bit of a renaissance, mixing multicolored sounds together.  They have worked with suave and debonair crooner John Legend, “Queen of neo-soul” Erykah Badu and fellow neo-soul artist Jill Scott. Check out The Roots new album, Undun.

Erykah Badu

Speaking of Erykah Badu, she will be performing at the BET Experience at L.A. Live.  Ms. Badu keeps us in tune with her soulful and spicy sound. She is a controversial artist who is not afraid to be different. We still remember her boldness to walk stark naked along the street where President, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas for her music video “Window Seat”. Badu is an artist worth remembering. She is featured on recording artist, Janelle Monae’s song “QUEEN”.

Kendrick Lamar

Rapper Kendrick Lamar will be at the BET Experience at L.A. Live. He will be performing his latest hits “Poetic Justice” and “The Recipe” this June.  Don’t miss out. The Compton Native rose to fame with club bangers like “Swimming Pools”.  He brought us back to “Poetic Justice” where superstar Janet Jackson had long and thick braids and the late rapper Tupac was the baddest thing around.

Joining Kendrick Lamar will be, Snoop Dogg, who will be performing at the BET Experience at L.A. Live. The Godfather of rap on the West Coast will be performing old and new tunes for us to jam to.  Maybe we will see the new reinvention of himself, “Snoop Lion”.

If Snoop is the Godfather of rap on the West Coast, than certainly R. Kelly is the Godfather of R&B. The pied piper of Chicago will perform at the BET Experience at L.A Live. I’m sure he will be performing all his classic hits.  Fans can expect to hear songs from his latest album Write Me back. Just recently, Thomas Mars from the rock band Phoenix performed with R&B crooner R. Kelly at Coachella. It was certainly a surprise to see the rocker belting out classic R. Kelly songs “Bump and Grind”, “Ignition” and “I’m a Flirt”. R. Kelly is working on his new album, Black Panties this summer.

ROC Nation’s rap artist J. Cole is set to perform at the BET Experience at L.A. Live.  J. Cole got his start as an underground rapper producing mix tapes. Along the way he collaborated with A-list artists. J. Cole is a “smart rapper”. His music is truth-seeking with a lot of street edge. J. Cole will join the ranks of other artists who will be performing. We look forward to hearing songs off his current album, Cole World: The Sideline Story and his up in coming album Born Sinner.

New Edition will be performing at the BET Experience at L.A. Live. The popular 80’s music group will be hitting the stage to perform all time favorites for their fans.  Old school is making a comeback at the BET Experience. The Jacksons are also set to perform at the BET Experience at L. A. Live. This should be a special treat for the fans.
