It Takes a Village

Alfonzo Tucker

Hello world, I hope today is as good to you as it shall be for me. Today, I move one step closer to accomplishing my life’s goal, to bring inspiration to every person on this planet. There are several different ways I plan to achieve this goal. One of which I would like to introduce you all too now, “Psyche-Fitness Therapy”, this is a concept that I’ve, been exploring for years. So, just short of two years ago, I discovered a master’s program that would allow me to pursue this portion of my dreams. Currently, I’m in my last year of graduate school studying to obtain dual degrees in similar subjects. The first is “Clinical Psychology with and emphasis in Counseling”; the second is “Sports and Exercise Psychology”.

My level of excitement regarding this course of study is amazing!

I plan to create fitness foundation programs, combined with psychological guidance counseling, for the positive development of one’s physical and mental health. These programs will allow me to continue my path as a person who thrives to help others achieve all that is positive and humanly possible. When I have completed my studies and obtained my therapy license, I will open a private practice; “The NOESIS training center for FITNESS based PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY”.

Just last month I started my first internship. This semester I will be working with athletes who attend Contra Costa Community College (Bay Area). Next semester I will be assigned to several psyche-therapy clinics pertaining to my clinical degree. I believe that my youth experiences (for example; not knowing who my biological mother is, living with my biological father who was a pimp, drug dealer, killer and then drug addict) truly helps me relate to my clients with similar backgrounds. Now I am earning the education that will aid me in helping those from all cultures, education and economical environments.

Of course there are regulations pertaining to confidentiality with my clients so I will never divulge their real identities within my writing, however, there are many matters that I would like to discuss from time to time. For example; I have cases that need extreme thought and detail for the proper guidance and success of my clients. Currently, I am working with young athletes who have always relied upon their natural talents to excel as an athlete, now they are faced with academic issues as well as learning how to become a next level athlete.

Fortunately, I attended a Junior College also, oddly enough, I learned how to study for exams and read for comprehension while a college student. On a different note; during those years my actions were on the cusp of being punished criminally. I see in my clients the same behaviors. So, if you as the reader have similar backgrounds and within the next few months find yourself in the Bay Area; please offer your assistance to these young athletes who need to see first hand successful men and women with similar backgrounds.

In the words of “George Washington Carver; How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these”.
