Super Producer DJ Mustard headlines LA Concert

DJ Mustard performed at the Brisk Bodega music event in LA on August 9th at Mack Sennett Studios. The summer event series is a six-city tour that featured upcoming talent curated by Roc Nation producer and recording artist DJ Mustard. He previewed new album “10 Summers” released August 12.  This month, Mustard released a new single “Down On Me” feat. 2Chainz and Ty Dolla $ign from his debut album.  The Los Angeles native has produced chart-topping hits for 2 Chainz (“I’m Different”), Young Jeezy (“R.I.P.”) and Tyga (“Rack City”). Mustard describes his beats as “undefinable.” “I just want people to hear my music and feel good; go to the club, dance, have fun, and get home safe…none of that gang-banging stuff.” The New York Times has praised Mustard’s sound, stating “it’s made for some of the starkest and most vibrant hip-hop of the last year or two…booming and square, like well-sequenced jabs with no need for combinations.” Other performances from the event were YG, Nipsey Hussle as well as an appearance from Chadwick Boseman.

LA native Tinashe follows up on success of hit single “2 On”

Tinashe is making a name for herself with summer jam “2 On,” also remixed by Drake. With her debuting album Aquarius underway, she is wasting no time working with other artists. Tinashe is featured on DJ Mustard’s “Checks In” from album 10 Summers. On working with Future, “Future was one of the few people who I actually got to work with face-to-face,” she said, admitting she spent four days in the studio with him in Atlanta. “When you’re working in the studio with Future, it’s similar to my writing process. You definitely just first vibe out and get to know one another, get to know the track, get to know where we’re trying to go with it and then he goes into the booth and says whatever comes out. And then afterwards he’ll go back in and really figure out what lyrics he wants and what he wants to say.” Tinashe follows with new track of her own, called “In the Meantime,” produced by T-Minus. “It’s in a place of R&B. It’s somewhat ambient.” “It has that vibey kind of feel to it, but then there’s also a lot of influence from different genres, hip-hop especially. There’s stuff on there that’s more hip-hop, but there’s stuff that also feels more alternative as well. I think the album doesn’t necessarily stay in one place. It has different kinds of tastes that I can touch upon,” she told MTV on new album.
