Interdenominational Ushers Hold Convention

Ushers, nurses and hospitality workers throughout California will gather for the 72nd Annual State Ushers’ Convention starting Tuesday, June 25 through Friday, June 28 at the Crowne Plaza LAX Hotel, 5985 West Century Boulevard in Los Angeles.

According to host Southern District President Mattie L. Gardette, “Ushers will celebrate this spiritual journey of praise, school of ushering, training and development, scholarship awards, honoree tributes and fellowship under the dynamic leadership of State President Pamela R. Jamison and Board of Directors Chairman Doris J. Gilton.”

Agenda highlights include the William H. Davis Honor Club Breakfast on Wednesday at 9 a.m., the Vivian Gilner Public Relations Luncheon on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., and the Installation Banquet on Friday at 7 p.m.  Also, Ushers Rose Mary Johnson, Deacon Levi Smith, A. J. Jones, Deacon Elzie Williams, Lillie Manigault and Mother Annie Sims will be honored.

Rosie L. Lee and Elzie Williams are the Convention chairs, the Rev. Renandez Grim of Good Shepherd Baptist Church is the host pastor, and Pastor Kelvin Sauls of Holman United Methodist Church is the co–host.
