Inspiration from God Motivates Gudger to Write

Shana Gudger

The goodness of God motivates Shana Gudger to write uplifting poetry and perform her lyrics at venues throughout Los Angeles.

Gudgers goal is to heal, inspire and educate others about the power of the Lord.

I always believed my gifts were meant to help someone to identify pain, release pain and to move forward in life, she said.

As I have grown as a person, fell down, got back up, fell down and am getting back up again, God has taken me to His Word to use my gifts to help the person who has some questions within themselves that need answers. My poetry is about God, but it is also about life and everyone has to deal with that, explained Gudger.

Her attraction to writing began as a youngster when Gudger noticed she wrote many letters to God.

I guess I had questions I needed to ask Him or something I needed to discuss with Him, so I wrote letters to Him. As I grew older, I continued to write because I found that I enjoyed it and it seemed to come naturally. Also winning a poetry contest in the sixth grade   inspired me to continue, she recalled.

Although currently her schedule is full with work and attending school to become an esthetician, Gudger still finds time to let God guides her to write encouraging prose.

I dont pick the topics [I write about], the topics pick me. My poetry comes from inside me and when whatever has to be said and feels it cannot live in me anymore, it decides to come out, she noted.

The poetry sits me down and says, Write me. It is God inspired, a gift from God. God is writing and Im being the conduit.

With that being said the topics that come to me often that I write about are God, my purpose in life, fear, love, pain and transformation.

Gudger, who earned a Bachelors degree at the University of the District of Columbia, also hosts In the Room Spoken Word on the second Sunday on every month at 3014 West 54th Street, Suite 11 in Los Angeles.

Inviting the public to attend, she shared, I believe anyone would enjoy my poetry because it comes from the Creator. Non-believers may not get it, but they will eventually because it will reach their spirit.

God said in Romans 14:11, For it is written, as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to Me and every tongue will confess to God.’”

‘He Loved Me’ By Shana Gudger

God You loved me

I didnt understand

I didnt feel your presence

I couldnt feel your hand

God You loved me

Though I didnt know why

I didnt understand you were my

Comforter, provider, lover, my friend

My lawyer, my husband, on whom I could depend

God You loved me

With a presence so great

I couldnt and didnt see it

In my everyday state

I kept looking at the problems

Not at You

Forgetting who You are

And all that You do

Oh how You loved me

Even when I didnt love myself

You kept on loving

Until I could step

Up into the greatness

You destined me to be

By understanding

That You first loved me

The revelation has come

And I am forever blessed

Knowing You are the One

Who helps me withstand the test

God You loved me

It has finally sank in

That Your love is the best gift

I ever got from a friend
