More than 1,300 beaming women of all backgrounds and ages gathered for a special Mother’s Day celebration, hosted by Councilman Curren Price, Council President Herb J. Wesson Jr. and Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson on May 13 at the LA Convention Center in the 9th District.
The FREE event for South LA moms across Districts 8, 9 and 10 included delicious food, live music and dancing. The luncheon was in recognition of the role of mothers and their contributions to society. Attendees on hand also received a commemorative tote bag, potholder and a rose.
“I was fortunate to have an incredible mother as my friend, teacher and role model,” said Councilman Price. “So often the work of mothers is invisible and unappreciated, but we know that they are the foundation of our families, neighborhoods and communities.”
