Holy Hook-Up Revival Underway


 

The Holy Hook Up Revival will be presented March 11 -12 by Pastor Ronald L. Wright and the New Vision Church of Jesus Christ.

Services will be held each night at 7 p.m. at Ward A.M.E. Church, 1177 W. 25th St., in Los Angeles. Rev. Dr. C. Dennis Williams is the pastor.

The guest preachers will be Rev. Matthew Watley, executive minister of Reid Temple A.M.E. in Glenn Dale, MD and Rev. Otis Moss III, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL.

As Executive Minister at Reid Temple, Rev. Watley has oversight of the churches’ five corporations, 50 person staff, $6.5 million annual budget, and 56 ministries of the church where the Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington is Senior Pastor of the 6,000+ members. Also, he is founder of Power Lunch, a non-denominational noontime worship service that attracts hundreds of workers from the public and private sector in Washington, DC to listen to his messages.

Rev. Watley received his bachelor’s degree and masters of divinity degree from Howard University. He also co-authored Poems of a Son, Prayers of a Father, and his poetry has also been included in Dr. James Washington’s Conversation with God, The Flow edited by Kwame Alexander, and Beyond the Frontier edited by E. Ethelbert Miller.

Rev. Moss III serves as Pastor at Trinity under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Previously, he was pastor of the historic Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia, which grew from 125 members to over 2,100 disciples during his tenure.

Rev. Moss earned his bachelor’s degree at Morehouse College, masters of divinity degree from Yale University, and attended the University of Denver/Iliff School of Theology in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Religion and Social Change. Also, he authored Redemption in a Red Light District, and The African American Pulpit Journal recently named Rev. Moss one of the “20 to watch” ministers who will shape the future of the African American church.
