Health and Wellness Centers will be holding a fair to help improve health and enroll the community in health plans.

On Saturday, January 25, from 9am-2pm, To Help Everyone Health and Wellness Centers (T.H.E.) will be holding a Healthcare Insurance Enrollment and Wellness Fair at the Ruth Temple Health Center building located at 3834 S. Western Avenue in Los Angeles, CA. The fair will be offering a variety of health screenings and most importantly—health insurance. President and CEO of T.H.E, Ris? Phillips, shared a little about what service will be available at the fair and about T.H.E.

“We’re going to be doing free health screenings,” said Phillips. Screenings will include blood pressure, glucose testing, eye exams and HIV testing among others. “There will also be opportunities for enrollment for Obamacare.” Phillips also shared the importance of signing up for health insurance with the deadline being right around the corner.

“It’s very important, the deadline is in March 31,” said Phillips. “The longer you wait, the worse it will be but we anticipate that most people will make a decision in terms of enrolling by March 31.” This is one of the main reasons T.H.E. will be making sure health insurance choices will be available at the wellness fair.

T.H.E. Clinics are unique in that they approach their patients from a holistic point of view. They service Los Angeles communities providing affordable preventive, primary and behavioral health care, which is accessible to all.

“We do practice holistic care,” said Phillips. “What’s in our actual mission [is] looking at the mind, the body and the spirit. We basically try to look at the entire person instead of ‘body part’ medicine.”

She continued, ”That’s what keeps generations coming back to us even after they’ve moved outside of the area.”

T.H.E. Clinic has multiple facilities: the main facility at Ruth Temple Health Center is located at 3834 Western Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90062; the Lennox clinic is located at 10223 Firmona Avenue, Lennox, CA 90304; the Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System at 5715 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90037. They also have two mobile clinics, one at Dorsey High School, Crenshaw High School and Community Development Institute Head Start.

To Help Everyone Health and Wellness Centers will be opening up a new medical care facility in Los Angeles near La Brea and Coliseum. The 6000 square-foot center will be able to provide much needed primary care and dental services to an estimated 5000 patients.

“The key component here is we truly believe that a person’s zip code shouldn’t determine the quality of healthcare that they receive. A number of people from the community recognize that we are providing people with quality care that they can depend on and we’ve been doing this… for 40 years [in September 2014].”
