Hays Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will celebrate Friends of Hays (FOH) and Fellowship Day on Sunday, November 13, at 4 p.m., in the edifice located at 10121 South Central Avenue in Los Angeles, announced Pastor Julio Andujo.
“We invite the public to attend and worship with us,” said Rev. Andujo who was recently appointed pastor at Hays Tabernacle by Bishop James B. Walker, presiding prelate of the 9th Episcopal District of the C.M.E. Church.
The speaker for the service will be Rev. Mark E. Whitlock, pastor of Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church where he leads a congregation of more than 2,600 members in Irvine. Also, he serves as the Connectional African Methodist Episcopal Church’s Director of Corporate Giving and Executive Director of the Cecil L. Murray Center for Community Engagement at the University of Southern California.
Before his full-time call to the ministry, Rev. Whitlock served as founder and executive director of FAME Renaissance, the economic development arm of First A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles.
Rev. Whitlock earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Laverne and is currently completing the Master’s of Divinity program at Payne Theological Seminary. He also received an honorary doctorate degree from American International University.
