A spiritual explosion will ignite at Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church when the 2013 Holy Convocation begins on Wednesday, March 20, through Friday, March 22, at 6 p.m., in the edifice located at 5300 Denker Boulevard in Los Angeles.

According to Pastor Solomon L. Drake, the General Assembly preachers will be the Rev. Dr. Albert Nicholas of Pilgrim Baptist on Wednesday, the Rev. Dr. Sylvester Washington of Pleasant Hill Baptist on Thursday, and the Rev. Dr. William J. Epps of Second Baptist on Friday.

“The Convocation includes prayer,  praise, worship, workshops, the preached word, and singing. We encourage the Los Angeles community to come together with us in the presence of the Lord as we acknowledge the eminence of the Great I Am,” said Dr. Drake.

The theme is ‘A Blessed Church: Kept By The Power Of God’ and the scripture reference is 1 Peter 1:3-9. Other theologians serving as instructors are the Rev. Harold L. Mitchell of Greater Emmanuel Missionary Baptist, the Rev. T.K. Carroll of Greater Cornerstone Missionary Baptist, the Rev. Lovely Haynes of St. Mark Missionary Baptist, the Rev. Dr. Reginald Pope of Bethel Missionary Baptist, and the Rev. Dr. Williams Thurmond, Pastor Emeritus of Park Windsor Baptist.

In addition, Greater Ebenezer’s preaching and teaching staff will lead classes and Dr. Drake will teach the Ministers’ Class on Friday.  The choirs of Greater Ebenezer will provide the music.
