The 28th Annual Heritage Music Foundation Gospel Music Conference and Expo, hosted by Dr. Margaret Pleasant Douroux, opens Wednesday, June 26 through Saturday, June 29.

“This year, we will introduce Earnest Pugh, (‘Let It Rain’), a new Gospel star with an astonishing five-octave range,” said Dr. Douroux.

“Also, Gospel music enthusiasts are invited to register and participate in the Heritage Mass Choir.”

The Conference features more than a dozen national Gospel artists such as V. Michael McKay, Calvin Rhone, and Rodney Teal, plus the music of Dr. Douroux and upcoming writers. Evening concerts are free to the public.

The kick-off concert is Wednesday at 7 p.m., at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 4269 Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. Edna Tatum will emcee and Pugh, Rhone, the Heritage Mass Choir and the Gospel Music Workshop of America – L.A. Chapter will perform.

Melodi Ewell and the Rev. Jeffrey Richardson will sing at Thursday’s concert at 7 p.m., at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church, 601 East 99th Street in Inglewood. The Grand Finale Concert, held at Greater New Bethel on Friday at 7 p.m., features music by Pugh, Teal, and McKay. Kevin Nash will emcee.

On Saturday, Dr. Douroux’s Founder’s Message and the Breakfast and Fashion Show takes place at 8 a.m., at Regency West, 3339 West 43rd Street in Los Angeles.
