Serra’s passing game was contained, so running back Shaquille Richard picked up the slack by rushing for 162 yards.

Running back Shaquille Richard and Serra’s stingy defense led them to their 29th consecutive victory.

Gardena Serra’s offense has been powered by star wide receivers George Farmer and Marqise Lee.  Arroyo Grande made it a point to not get beat by them by playing extra defensive backs the entire game.  Seeing that Farmer and Lee only caught five passes combined (four of them went for touchdowns), it looks like Arroyo Grande accomplished their mission.

The extra defensive backs slowed down Serra’s passing attack, but having one to two less linebackers allowed Serra running back Shaquille Richard to rush for 162 yards on 25 carries.

Serra’s defense does not get a lot of press, but they have been dominating opposing offenses all season long.  Arroyo Grande managed only two first downs in the first half, one by penalty.  Arroyo did not get into the endzone until the game was already one sided.

Serra will be heading to Carson’s Home Depot Center with a 29 game winning streak as they will be defending their State championship from last year.
