Gang Killing
By Sentinel News Service
Published July 16, 2009

A “top 10 wanted gang member” is in custody for allegedly killing another man in a gang-related attack four years ago in a South Los Angeles alley, police announced today.

Dion Hayes, 29, was arrested June 29 in Lancaster and booked for murder in the killing of Andre Williams, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Hayes, who was being held on $3 million bail, was scheduled to appear today in the downtown Los Angeles courthouse.

Williams was gunned down about 12:10 a.m. on July 5, 2005, in an alley in the 700 block of East Florence Avenue. He died at the scene.

Homicide detectives obtained a felony murder warrant for Hayes, a member of a Bloods faction, but he eluded capture.

Hayes was arrested in the 43500 block of Kirkland Avenue in Lancaster after investigators received information that he would be there, police said.

Anyone with more information about the case was urged to call Detective Greg Stearns, (213) 485-2129, or (877) LAPD-24-7.
