Fredrick-Mathews named Defensive Player of the Week

Citrus College freshman defensive back Rodney Fredrick-Mathews was named the SCFA West Conference Defensive Player of the Week today. Fredrick-Mathews is the fourth Fighting Owl to earn the honor this year.

Fredrick-Mathews easily had his best day so far in a Citrus uniform in Citrus’ 35-14 win over San Bernardino Valley College on Saturday. Fredrick-Mathews had a game and season high 11 tackles (seven solo, four assisted), two pass break-ups, and two interceptions.

Fredrick-Mathews is a six foot, 190 pound freshman out of Damien High School and Rancho Cucamonga. He and the rest of the Fighting Owls will be back out on the field this weekend as they play host to #4 Riverside Community College in Citrus Stadium. Kick-off is set for 1:00 PM.
