Frat Games basketball at Gardena High School
By Sentinel News Service
Published May 2, 2012

The “Nupes” of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc knocked off the “Iotas” of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc.

The Frat Games is creating a family environment while supporting the community.

The Frat Games is in full swing at Gardena High School with eight basketball teams, providing four games every Saturday afternoon starting at 3:30 p.m.

The Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc, and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc, have been entertaining crowds with highly competitive games for the past four weeks, and they are just one week away from the playoffs.

Frat Games was not only designed to bring African American Greek letter organizations together, but they always promote a cause or perform community service.  This past Saturday was cancer awareness week, and The Frat Games raised funds for Chris Corbin, a young boy who had a tumor inside and surrounding his femur bone and around his lungs.

The Frat Games also donates funds to Gardena High School’s athletic department, and they have created a family environment by making the games reasonably priced.  They have given out 10,000 passes for free, and a ticket at the door to watch four games is only $5.

The games capture the spirits of these organizations, reunites old friends, and educates children about these great organizations.
