Solombra Ingram, first lady emeritus of Maranatha Community Church, will launch the Dr. Billy G. Ingram Legacy Foundation to continue the work of her late husband at the First Annual Shalom Sunday Peace March and Rally to be held on Sunday, March 4, at 3 p.m., at Morningside High School, 10500 South Yukon Avenue in Inglewood.

On this Sunday, the first anniversary of Dr. Ingram’s untimely passing, pastors and their congregations along with community leaders and believers throughout the city will participate in this day of celebration, commemoration and commitment to peace and the establishment of the foundation.

Lady Ingram, CEO and founder of the foundation, stated, “Whether he was coming or going, Pastor Billy always greeted and departed you with his wish for peace by saying ‘Shalom!’

“That’s why I thought it was fitting to have Shalom Sunday, which will be a day to commemorate his message of hope and peace, to confirm our commitments to be peacemakers and a day to create a community of peace.”

The mission of the Dr. Billy G. Ingram Legacy Foundation will be four-fold: first and foremost, to continue the ministry of Pastor Billy to help others to know Christ and to make Christ known; to foster and educate young, urban scholars by encouraging them to pursue careers in the creative arts such as photography, spoken word, poetry, writing, and platform speaking; to help build foundations of peace within our communities, among diverse faiths, within our families and within our individual lives; and to build educational opportunities for impoverished American and South African schoolchildren.

The public is invited to share in the commemoration. For information, call (310) 780-2659.
