The LA Flower District, located in the LA Fashion District, will be extending its hours to the public beginning Sunday, February 10,  to accommodate Valentine’s Day shoppers. Select vendors will be open until 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 24 hours from Wednesday, February 13 until the last customer leaves on Valentine’s Day, February 14. “Valentine’s Day is the second busiest day of the year for the Flower District, as it is one of the few, if not the only place in Los Angeles where you can find discounted roses on Valentine’s Day.” said Kent Smith, Executive Director, LA Fashion District. “Our flower markets are unique to LA in that they distribute the freshest flowers to retailers and florists throughout Southern California.” The largest wholesale flower market in the U.S, the LA Flower District offers shoppers up to 70% off retail prices on a wide variety of fresh cut flowers and pre-made bouquets. Shoppers are encouraged to bring cash, as many vendors are cash only. A DIY heaven, the district also offers discounted floral supplies for those looking to make their own flower arrangements. Southern California Flower Growers (755 Wall St.) and Los Angeles Flower Market of the American Florists Exchange (754 Wall St.), the two largest markets in the district, boast more than 500,000 square feet combined of wholesale and retail, flowers, plants and floral accessories. Admission fee is $2 on weekdays and $1 on Saturdays. The California Flower Mall (825 San Pedro St.), which includes 45 vendors of traditional and exotic blooms, is open free to the general public. It is here where most vendors will be open 24 hours prior to Valentine’s Day, and are expected to stay open as late as 6 p.m. on Sunday February 8 and 9 p.m. February 11 and 12.
